At 4,167m, Mount Toubkal is the highest mountain in North Africa. The hike to the summit is challenging, but it requires no mountaineering experience and the panoramic view from his summit makes the hard work worthwhile.
Day 1: Marrakech - Imlil - trekking start at Toubkal - Toubkal Refuge
At sunrise, short transfer to Imlil where we leave with the muleteer. We start our walk with a beautiful climb to the village of Aremd, crops in plains, irrigation canals of olive trees. We then climb to join the Toubkal refuge at 3,100m. Duration: 5 hours of walking. Night in a shelter.
Day 2: Toubkal Refuge (3,100m) - Toubkal ascent (4,167m) - Back to Refuge
The stopover at the highest summit of North Africa is done without much difficulty, starting early to enjoy the freshness of the day. From the Toubkal summit (4,167m) the sight carries far and we can see the solid mass of Jbel Siroua, as well as the plain of Marrakech. We then descend and return to drink tea and lunch at the refuge. Afternoon is free. Duration: 3 hours for the climb, 2.5 hours for the descent.
Day 3: Refuge of Toubkal - Imlil - Marrakech
After breakfast, we descend very slowly via the same mule track to Aremd (2,250m), then lunch in Imlil (1,750m). 4 hours of descent then, around 1 pm, return to Marrakech. Duration: 4 hours of walking, 1.3 hour of driving.
